Sea Grain – DoubleTree by Hilton, Jakarta

There’s always something new to try here in Jakarta. This city never seems to run out of places to dine at, have coffee in and just simply chill out and enjoy fun times with friends and family. At times, Jakarta feels too big of a city to try out all the trending places with beautiful ambiance and outstanding local and international cuisines. As foodies, we really have to hunt for the best places or if we are lucky enough, some of these restaurants would invite us over and let us try their specialties. This edition of EATS Jakarta is about a restaurant called Sea Grain, which is located in DoubleTree by Hilton in Jakarta’s Cikini area in Menteng, Central Jakarta. Sea Grain is a place where diners can just chill out, enjoy the relaxing vibe, and of course devour some of Mediterranean and Indonesian fusion food. Indonesian cuisine is all about colorful dishes, traditional spices and flavorings while Mediterranean cuisine is about olive oil, legumes, fish and whole grains. Both cuisines can be considered hearty. Depending on the combination of ingredients, having these two cuisines in fusion recipes can be both intriguing and scary at the same time. Keep reading to find out whether this Indonesian-Mediterranean fare worked out for our taste or not. Continue reading…

Balinese Delights – Publik Markette, Jakarta

Hello everyone! How did your weekend go? Hope it went well.  Ours was jam-packed with EATSperiences and one will be featured in this edition of EATS Jakarta. It’s no secret that we love going to Grand Indonesia to stroll and of course to eat at our favorite restaurants. Speaking of favorites, Publik Markette is one of our favorites at Grand Indonesia’s East Mall. It just feels like home when we are there not just because of their enticing food gallery but also because of the professionalism and hospitality of their servers and chefs. Just last week, we received an invitation from Publik Markette to try out their Balinese Culinary Delights by Ismaya’s very own Chef I Made Yoga Putra. This special culinary showcase started on the 22nd of April and will be until the 8th of May. Chef I Made Yoga Putra is Publik Markette’s guest chef during this period. It looks really promising and exciting at the same time because Chef Made hails from Bali. Ready to find out more about this rare culinary treat? Continue reading…

Fok Luk Sau – Wisma 46, Jakarta

Chinese food! We love Chinese food! Fried rice, dim sum, noodles, stir-fried dishes, hearty soups and many more. Anybody out there who is also in love with Chinese food? Last week, we got another Lakupon deal and it’s in a restaurant called Fok Luk Sau. We haven’t heard of it before and we were curious about how good their Chinese food are. When we looked up Fok Luk Sau, we discovered that it was hidden in one of the office buildings in the Tanah Abang area called Wisma 46. Good thing it was easy to find because it was just located at the ground floor. We were extremely excited to try it because it was another 40% off deal and we have a total of IDR 400,000 worth of food vouchers. Imagine all the Chinese food that we can get, right? Let’s see if Fok Luk Sau is worth the online purchase or not. Are you ready to find out more about our EATSprience? Continue reading…

Bing Go – Gandaria City, Jakarta

Anything Korean has been extremely popular these past couple of years. Korean drama and movies, K-pop, and of course, KOREAN CUISINE! Obviously, we at EATS Jakarta are more interested with Korean Cuisine. Who wouldn’t love Bibimbap, Kimchi, Samgyeopsal, Pajeon, Banchan, Galbi and many many more, right? This EATSperience though is not about savory Korean food but it’s about… KOREAN DESSERTS! Our partnership with Lakupon brought us to this famous Korean dessert place in Gandaria City, Bing Go. Bing Go prides itself of serving authentic Korean desserts. They are famous for their “patbingsu” or more commonly known as Korean shaved ice desserts with Azuki beans, condensed milk, chopped fruits and fruit syrup. This deal was given to us in a very timely manner because it’s been really hot these days and having a bowl of patbingsu is a great way to cool ourselves down. Are you ready to find out more about our Bing Go EATSperience? Continue reading…

Old Chang Kee – Senayan City, Jakarta

Hello everyone! It’s been a period of adjustment for us here at EATS Jakarta because our tiny family of three is now complete. As some of you who have a child or children know, it can be pretty challenging going to places with an infant. Now, we have to be more cautious about where to go and where to eat to make sure our baby is a-okay. Good thing, one of our latest EATSperiences was just quick and really accessible, thanks to our friends from Lakupon! Because of a great value for money deal from Lakupon we were able to eat at one of our favorite on-the-go snacks whenever we visit Singapore— Old Chang Kee. To those of you who are not familiar with Old Chang Kee, it is an established snack, food and beverage chain in Singapore. Old Chang Kee serves a wide variety of curry puffs and fried snacks on skewers. So if you love quick bites and fried food, you must have come across this brand at one point in time. Sunday Brunch OPEN Restaurant, DoubleTree Jakarta

After almost three months of waiting, the EATS Jakarta family is together again! Mrs. and Baby EATS are finally here in Jakarta, back to EATSperience a great number of newly-opened restaurants and revisit some of our old favorites. Special thanks to Bianca’s parents for accompanying them back to Jakarta and for taking good care of them in Manila. Aside from being reunited, we were also excited to take Bianca’s parents around Jakarta even for just a couple of days. They know how much we love the food scene here and we were extremely excited to let them try a few of our favorites. However, this past Sunday, we were invited at the re-launch of the Sunday Brunch at the OPEN Restaurant in DoubleTree Hilton Jakarta. It’s definitely something new for all of us because it was our first time to set foot at this oasis of a hotel in the middle of Jakarta. DoubleTree Hilton Jakarta houses OPEN Restaurant, an all-day dining restaurant that features open kitchens, live cooking stations that include Indonesian, Asian and Western favorites. Looks like we will be stuffed from all the delicious food that await our hungry tummies. Keep reading to find out more about our Sunday Brunch EATSperience at OPEN Restaurant. Continue reading…
